Note: Korean customs request that all lumber wrap, or caps, or inventory tags have the country of origin; Please use the wording “Product of Canada” or “Made in Canada”.

Lumber of SPF and Pinus spp & and Lumber of Larix spp:
IF Kiln Dried and Heat Treated:

  • Import Permit is not required
  • Bark tolerance of up to 1/3 of its surface area
  • KD/HT stamps with the registered facility number should appear on each piece of lumber or bundle, or bundle tag or bundle number.
  • Two options for entry:
    1. Phytosanitary Certificate with additional declaration – “The sawn wood in this shipment has been heat treated at a CFIA registered facility to achieve a minimum wood core temperature of 56 degrees C for a minimum of 30 minutes”
      OR
    2. Heat Treatment Certificate issued by a CFIA accredited facility with the above additional declaration as per the Export HT Certificate provided by your Grading Agency.

Lumber of SPF and Pinus spp; and Lumber of Larix spp:
IF Heat Treated (HT):

  • Import Permit is not required
  • Bark tolerance that is equivalent to the standards used in ISPM 15:
    • HT wood must be made from “debarked wood:
    • Bark may remain IF they are:
      • Less than 3 cm in width, regardless of length,
      • Individual pieces that are clearly distinct with a surface area of less than 50 square cm.
  • HT stamps with the registered facility number should appear on each piece of lumber or bundle, or bundle tag or bundle number.
  • Note – make sure your lumber wrap does NOT show as KD/HT when it is only HT
  • Two options for entry:
    1. Phytosanitary Certificate with additional declaration – “The sawn wood in this shipment has been heat treated at a CFIA registered facility to achieve a minimum wood core temperature of 56 degrees C for a minimum of 30 minutes”
