The basic requirements are outlined below – BUT the Import Permit needs to be requested first.  The Import Permit will spell out the specific phytosanitary requirements for the products and the species being requested for entry.

Logs

• An Import permit is required
• Logs must be debarked and free of pests and soil
• A phytosanitary inspection and Certificate are required

Lumber

• Import permit is required
• Lumber must be manufactured from debarked logs
• A phytosanitary inspection and Certificate are required to ensure products are free of pests and soil

Shakes and Shingles

• Import permit is required
• A phytosanitary inspection and Certificate are required to ensure products are free of pest and soil.

Wood Chips

• Import permmit is required
• Chips must be derived from products that had been originally debarked
• A phytosanitary inspection and Certificate are required to ensure proucts are free of pest and soil.
